Glocal Impact U (Training, Missions, and Outreach)


 
    Day in the City Seminar:    
This special two-day seminar is designed to move your church/ministry into action. Learn how to be a missionary in your own city. We are finding that the very people who were once out of reach across the globe now are very much "in reach" right here in our own city.

Friday night Schedule 6:00-9:30 p.m.: (Held on site at your church)

Held from: April to November Only. *Call to find out how your church can host this innovative seminar. Who should take the classes/training? Anyone interested in learning more about becoming a Glocal (Global + Local = Glocal) missionary.

 

  L3: Living Learning Labs  
   

These special one week intensive courses are designed to move you into action. Learn how to be a glocal missionary in your own city.

*Learn how to build cross-cultural friendships
*Work alongside teammates, pastors, and missionaries
*Experience the cultures and language first hand as you spend time among ethnic people
*Communicate God's love in practical ways and through service projects
*Learn new skills
*Share Christ
*Cross-cultural immersion experience

Each L3 Intensive Course has the following six day general schedule
Sunday Night 5:00-9:00 p.m.
*Ethnic Dinner
*Introductions
*Overview
*Discover Your City Tour

Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m-9:00 p.m.
*Classroom instruction in the morning: religious history, faith, and practices. Adapting and contextualizing our approaches. Focusing and contextualizing the message. Missiological issues. City Reaching.

*Afternoon and evening sessions are on location working with ethnic/ religious/cultural groups or attending field trips to mosques, temples, etc.

*Each L3 ends with a graduation ceremony and Debriefing Session at a special Friday night dinner event in which your friends and family are invited to attend your graduation.

 

 

 

Select from one or more different courses offered from June-August
Choose from the following L3 weeklong intensives:
*L3: Taste of the Nations Introduction Sampler Training: One day each on Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Hispanics, and City Reaching.
*L3: Hinduism/Sikhism Training
*L3: Buddhism Training-Tibetan (Second largest Tibetan concentration in the U.S.). and other forms of East Asian Buddhism.
*L3: IslamTraining-Somali, Oromo, (largest U.S. concentrations of Somalis and Oromos), and other forms of Islam.
*L3: Judaism Training
*L3: Hispanic Training
*L3: Hmong Training-Largest concentration of Hmong people in North America.
*L3: Ethnic/City Reaching Research Field Methods Training-Conducted in the most diverse single neighborhood in the U.S. with 100+ languages represented.

Who should take the classes/training? Anyone interested in learning more about these topics. Must be 18 years or older.

Each L3 weeklong intensive course has required pre-class reading assignments.

College/Seminary credits can be obtained. Check with your individual school for requirements.

Note: Participants attending from outside the Twin Cities area are responsible to locate and pay for their own housing and transportation expenses.
